Menifee is a city in Riverside Canton, California, United States, and part of the Los Angeles Combined Statistical Area. The metropolis is centrally located in the heart of Southern California, in the Menifee Valley. It is almost xv miles (24 km) north of Temecula and just north of Murrieta. The 2010 United States Demography[11] reported that Menifee had a population of 77,519. The population density was 1,663.3 people per square mile (642.2/km2). The racial makeup of Menifee was 55,444 (71.5%) White (54.2% Not-Hispanic White),[12] 3,858 (5.0%) African American, 655 (0.8%) Native American, three,788 (4.9%) Asian, 296 (0.iv%) Pacific Islander, 9,642 (12.iv%) from other races, and 3,837 (4.nine%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 25,551 persons (33.0%).
The 2010 Census reported that 77,331 people (99.8% of the population) lived in households, 81 (0.ane%) lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and 107 (0.1%) were institutionalized.

The homeowner vacancy charge per unit was 4.1%; the rental vacancy charge per unit was 6.8%. 58,330 people (75.2% of the population) lived in owner-occupied housing units and 19,001 people (24.five%) lived in rental housing units.

Government [edit]
On June 3, 2008, voters elected to comprise Menifee as a general police force city. The new City of Menifee was officially established on Oct 1, 2008, and is the 26th metropolis located inside Riverside County. It was first governed past a v-member city council consisting of Wallace Edgerton as the mayor; Darcy Kuenzi equally the mayor pro-tem; and Fred Twyman, John Vaughn Denver, and Scott Isle of man as councilmembers. In 2010, Fred Twyman was appointed vice mayor (a new terminology). Wallace Edgerton was re-appointed mayor.
In 2010, Scott Mann lost his re-election to Tom Fuhrman. John Denver renewed his place on the quango past winning re-election over two challengers. Term limits for councilmembers consisting of two four-year terms were placed on the election, and the initiative won. An "At large" voting measure and a "four districts plus a mayor" initiative for how councilmembers would stand for the people of Menifee were voted on in 2010. The four districts plus a mayor narrowly won approval. The third city director, William A. (Neb) Rawlings, was hired in February 2011. The showtime urban center manager was George Wentz, followed by Steve Harding (former Murrieta city manager) as interim for several months. William Rawlins was chosen city manager in 2011. As of December 2011, the metropolis council consisted of: John Denver (mayor); Tom Fuhrman (mayor pro tem); and councilmembers Wallace Edgerton, Sue Krisjansson and Darcy Kuenzi.
In the November 2012 ballot, Scott Isle of mann was named mayor. Greg August was also elected to the council. Darcy Kuenzi and Sue Kristjansson lost their council seats. City managing director Bill Rawlings resigned. Rob Johnson was appointed acting city managing director. Edgerton was named deputy mayor.
As of the election on Tuesday, November iv, 2014, Matt Liesemeyer was elected and John Denver was re-elected every bit councilmen, and Scott Mann was re-elected as mayor. Tom Fuhrman lost his quango seat. Scott Isle of man's FPPC violation of using entrada funding for personal funding helped challenger Neil Winter to win the 2016 Mayoral election. Elementary and middle school level education in Menifee is provided by the Menifee Wedlock Schoolhouse District and Romoland School District, which serves nigh of Menifee as well as parts of Lake Elsinore, Wildomar and Murrieta, and the unincorporated community of French Valley. High school students attend school in the Perris Union Loftier Schoolhouse District, which includes Paloma Valley Loftier School and Heritage High School.

Menifee is also home to the Menifee Valley Campus of Mt. San Jacinto Higher, which serves the Temecula, Murrieta and Menifee areas and is known as the fastest-growing community college in California. As of July 1, 2020, the City of Menifee ended its contract with the Riverside County Sheriff Department and started its own municipal police department. The Menifee Police Section is led by Chief of Police Pat Walsh.
The City of Menifee contracts for fire and paramedic services with the Riverside County Fire Department through a cooperative agreement with CAL Burn.[17] There are four fire stations in Menifee and each station has a paramedic engine company, and there is ane medic patrol unit out of Fire Station #7 to assist with call volumes, as Station #seven is the 10th-busiest station in the nation. The Menifee Lakes station besides has a truck visitor located in that location with specialized equipment for large structural fires.

The main routes in Menifee are Interstate 215 and Newport Road/Dominegoni Parkway. Scott Road, McCall Boulevard and Ethanac Road are too master east–west travel streets in addition to State Road 74, which runs through the northern part of the metropolis; Murrieta, Bradley, Haun, Antelope, and Menifee Roads are the main north–south thoroughfares.
